2025 HMGA Field Trips

Tuesday June 17, 2025 Wonderful Wild Plants class &   Laurel Ridge Guided Hike Smithgall Woods State Park Helen, GA

Park Naturalist Destiny Witt will teach us about the wild plants of Eastern Appalachia and their practical uses as food and supplements. Learn the basics of ethical foraging. During the guided hike, we will see what we can find and identify!

Start time 10:00 am (please arrive by 9:45 to allow time for payment processing, so we can start on time); end time 12:30 pm, lunch following

Food - BYO brown bag; eat at picnic tables or covered pavilion in the park

Cost - $5 per person, payable on arrival (cash or credit card).  $5 parking also.

Saturday, Sept 27, 2025 Grape Harvest/Viticulture Education Stonewall Creek Vineyards Tiger, GA

Start Time -  Arrive 7:45 am, assist with harvest with a guide/instructor from the vineyard, learn about viticulture in our area;  lunch/wine taste served on the patio around noon.

Food – lunch is included in the $15 cost and will be served by the vineyard.  Those who wish to purchase a glass of wine can do so!

Cost - $15 per person, payable on arrival (cash or credit card).

Note – this event depends on weather and grape readiness. Late Sept is middle of harvest season, so we ‘should’ be fine. Rain date is 9/30.
