Our Lunch and Learn programs are always open to the public. It’s our fun way of sharing knowledge, with engaging expert speakers and compelling topics.
In 2025, we are pleased to offer the following Lunch and Learn programs:
Canning and Preserving Overview FRIDAY, JULY 18 11:30 AM-1:30 PM NE Georgia Food Bank Teaching Kitchen 46 Plaza Way, Clayton, GA
Learn how to preserve the bounty from your vegetable garden this summer! Banks County Extension Coordinator Susie Medina will discuss and demo water-bath canning. We’ll also learn about canning safety and how-to tips for success.
Attendees, please bring your own brown bag lunch. HMGA will provide drinks and cookies.

Birds of the Southern Appalachians THURSDAY, OCT. 16 11:30 AM-1:30 PM North Georgia Technical College 1500 Highway 197 North, Clarkesville, GA
Learn about birds native to our mountains and piedmont that we often see in our gardens, with Kathy Church, Georgia DNR Interpretive Specialist. We’ll explore why birds are important for our gardens, agriculture and local ecosystem, and how we can support birds through our gardening practices.
$12 fee includes lunch in the NGTC Cafeteria. Registration required.
